Along the Western Front, years of battle shifted the lines by mere meters, yet claimed millions of lives. In the novel’s final moment, a soldier falls on a day so calm that the army report reads only: “All quiet on the Western Front.” The war ends not with glory, but with silence — the kind that echoes louder than gunfire. Scent Profile
